Type Electives Lecture Series:
Type Designer AMA Series with Sahar Afshar
Join our Type Electives directors Juan and Lynne for an insightful discussion on “Theory and Practice in Type Design” featuring special guest Dr. Sahar Afshar.
Juan and Lynne will begin by sharing the basics on the fundamentals of type design, to set the stage for the conversation to follow. They will then be joined by Sahar, who is an independent type designer and researcher based in London. She is Lead Instructor for Type West Online, holds a PhD in Printing History from Birmingham City University, and is part of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Printing History and Culture.
Together, they’ll dive deeper and engage in a lively conversation answering community-submitted questions, exploring topics such as “What is worth doing in type?”, “Should I design glyphs for languages I can’t read?” followed by a Q&A session from our audience.
Send us your questions through our Instagram @typeelectives
The event will be hosted online via Zoom.
We look forward to having you with us!
