Type Designer AMA Series with Libbie Bischoff

Join our Type Electives directors Juan and Lynne for an insightful discussion on “Getting Started in Type Design” featuring special guest and Type Electives instructor Libbie Bischoff.

Juan and Lynne will begin by sharing the basics on how to get started in type design. They will then be joined by Libbie, founder of the type foundry Type Du Nord, known for the ambitious project of creating 52 fonts in one year!

Together, they’ll dive deeper and engage in a lively conversation answering community-submitted questions, exploring topics such as “Can having too many conceptual ideas detract from your design?”, “How Important is it to study calligraphy and lettering for type design?”, followed by a Q&A session from our audience.

Libbie Bischoff

Libbie Bischoff (she/her) is a California-based type designer. After graduating Type West in 2020, she opened her own type foundry, Type Du Nord. She started by making 52 fonts in one year and is now focusing on building her type library.
